To order repeat prescriptions online you need to sign up for "the waiting room" which will allow you to order repeat prescriptions and in the future also book appointments online. To use this system you must complete registration forms (ID required) in the practice to acquire a username and password. Please come into the surgery and speak to one of the receptionists who will be able to help you.
Please note that this system only allows ordering of repeat prescriptions. These appear on the repeat prescription form that is attached to your medication. For any non repeat items or any queries you will need to contact the surgery. If you have been seen by a hospital consultant and they have changed your medication please be aware that it may take some time for this information to reach the surgery.
If you have signed up to a repeat ordering scheme with a local pharmacy please be aware this is a private agreement between you and the pharmacy. The surgery has no control over when your prescriptions are requested but will issue them within three working days of receipt from the pharmacy. Please make sure the pharmacy are only ordering medications you actually need.
All regular repeat prescriptions are on our computers and a request slip is attached to all prescriptions for easy re-ordering. To order a repeat prescription, please call in to the surgery with your slip or post it to us, having ticked the items you want and circled your preferred collection method.
Your signed prescription can then be collected from the surgery, or from the chemist of your choice in Chard or we can post your prescription to you if you provide a stamped addressed envelope. Please allow three working days for all repeat prescriptions.
Please note that we cannot take prescription requests over the phone for safety and security reasons.
If you are on long-term medication, this and the condition that is being treated should be reviewed regularly. You may therefore be asked to speak to your doctor before a further prescription can be issued, please keep several days’ supply in stock and re-order before you run out.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
From 1 April 2016, the charges are:
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. The charge for a single prescription item is £8.40, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £29.10 and a 12 month PPC £104.00.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 3 working days, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
